Next Bristol Ride will be on Thursday 10th May, meeting at 6pm for a 6:15pm departure. Meeting in Queen’s Square by the statue then exploring the sights of Bristol’s historic harbour by bike. This will be a gentle ride with plenty of opportunity to chat and they’ll be riding at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. The ride is about 2.5 miles and will last about 50 minutes. Finishing at the M Shed for tea and a cake!

Everyone welcome (but must be female I’m afraid!). Email emsie45@hotmail.com if you have any questions, register your place online at www.goskyride.com/breeze or just simply turn up on the day!

So on the night of the 24th, a group from howies and writer/ cyclist Rob Penn have invited a few of us from The Bristol Bike Project amongst others to join them for a night-long bike ride across Wales, from beach to border. The 115 mile race against the sun begins in the early evening in Cardigan. Riding east through the night on dark back roads, over rolling hills and alongside lakes, the route will take us over some of the country’s most infamous peaks, before descending into Rob’s hometown of Abergavenny, in time for the sunrise. Some of us will be fast, some of us will be slow, some of us may not even make it to the finish. There will be flat tyres and deflated souls, mud, blood, sweat and struggle – the stuff that makes strong hearts and legs. But whatever happens, there’ll be no time to rest.

We are SO excited about this! Can’t wait…..

The director / producer of the film, Alistair Oldham, was at the screenings and said how struck he was by how audiences empathized with the issues of political asylum in the film, as Georgia has been affected by four different conflicts in the past ten years, which has resulted in large numbers of internal political refugees. The film has also recently screened at the Ekotop Festival in Slovakia and has been used in touring educational programmes in Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic and Estonia. Altogether the film has now been translated into fourteen different languages over the past two years, as well as playing at over forty film festivals all over the world. Notable screenings have included New York, Madrid, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul, San Francisco, Prague, Vienna and Milan.

The film and its full distribution details can be found at http://vimeo.com/9469007.
